Lannie's Bar-B-Q Spot

"First time visitors from the North, we were pointed at Lannie's #1 by the caretaker of the Selma Interpretive Center. The experience couldn't have been better. We got a great plate of ribs & bread that was a fantastic Christmas Eve dinner. The ribs were meaty, the sauce was right on. We can't recommend this place enough - 5 stars all the way, the folks working there are heroes. The generosity of Deborah who gave a couple travelers a meal at closing time was unmatched: we experienced the true meaning of Christmas here in Selma, Alabama, and encourage everyone to try this excellent BBQ restaurant."

"Good BBQ ... I liked the homemade crackling added to the top of my plate. Okra was excellent. Different from my hometown NC BBQ, but still pretty good. If you are in Selma - then I recommend you stop by and check this place out. I will return for sure."

"We came down from Detroit to be with family. We were looking for some good southern food. Lannie's didn't let us down. The fried fish, chicken tenders, potato salad, baked beans was all good. But the sweet corn fritters are the bomb. We met the owner and learned some history. We definitely enjoyed the food and southern hospitality."

"We travelled to Selma from Chicago to visit family and Lannie's was the first place we stopped! Great friendly atmosphere with very kind staff full of southern charm and hospitality. The food was excellent, from the burgers, BBQ, to seafood, everyone in our party was happy with their meal. The atmosphere was charming and gave that small town / country feel -- yet the place was a bustling with a steady flow of customers. Despite that, we got our food quickly and were able to enjoy a bite in the restaurants seating area. "Had me some barbecue at Lannie's Bar-B-Q Spot the other day and it sure hit the spot. Meat come out hot and tender, good smoke on it, with sides piled up so I nearabout cleaned the plate with my bread. Folks workin there was friendly, place felt simple and clean, just how I like it after a long day. For the money I paid I walked out full and happy, I ain't got no problem comin back here again."

"Now, this is a small business, but it has some of the best home cooked food we've had that wasn't cooked at home. The staff is very nice and the service is out of this world. They have a unique hamburger called a Swampburger, and when I tell you, once you try it believe me it will become your favorite. They have those ribs that fall off the bone, and you'll have to go there and find out for yourselves."

"Incredible food and service. We're from out of state but if we lived nearby, we'd eat here all the time. One of the best meals I've ever had. The value is astounding: ~$12.50 for a rib dinner with two sides. The ribs were great but the baked beans and potato salad were to die for."
